The program recognizes companies for a commitment to the safety and health of their employees. Achieving SHARP status isn't easy to earn, and it has taken years of hard work and dedication from all of our employees and project partners. D&D has worked with the NCDOL Consultative services for many years before receiving our first SHARP site recognition in 2016, and since that time, we have completed FOUR successful SHARP projects. "Why do we do safety? Simple, to preserve life, to ensure that the men and women who venture to our projects return home safely to their loved ones every day." - Mike Bryan, D&D's Safety and Health Director Congratulations to our Coastal and Catherine Lake Elementary School's project teams and our Safety and Health Director, Mike Bryan, for their dedication to safety...

We also welcomed Dustin Bannister from the University of Mount Olive as a guest speaker, leading our team through leadership activities and team building exercises. No company meeting is complete without Bill and Robin's delicious cooking. Chocolate chip cookies for breakfast and famous chili at lunch kept our team full and happy! Mike has revamped much of our safety program in the last eight months, received many hours and weeks of training to receive his C-MESH certificate, developed a new safety orientation for employees and subcontractors, conducted training for subcontractors, and most recently, signed us up for membership in the National Safety Council.  At D&D there is no higher priority than the safety of our staff and subcontractors. Jim’s introduction to the construction industry started with hands on experience. He began his career in 1977 after graduating from UNC. He involved himself in estimating and project management in 1985 and after his father’s retirement in 1992, became president of the company. He has most recently served as chairman of the board. To spend a minute with Jim is all it takes to understand his passion for quality and excellence in construction, as well as his commitment to Daniels and Daniels, the success of the employees and the betterment of the community it serves. This year, Mike Bryan, our Safety & Health Director, brought in our OSHA representatives to do a OSHA 1926 navigation course. SafeWaze also came to demonstrate the proper use of fall protection and to personally fit each of our employees with their fall restraint equipment. In addition to safety updates, our General Superintendent, Darren Powell, rolled out a brand new Quality Control Program that will better enable us to ensure the most optimal quality on all our projects.
