New Bern City Hall, located in historic downtown New Bern, NC, is now fully accessible to the public with the addition of the elevator annex. The annex features a lobby area, elevator, accessible restrooms, and a stairwell. Daniels & Daniels Construction Company was thrilled to partner with MBF Architects and the City of New Bern in bringing this project to reality. This project showcases the art of historical preservation and new construction, and what is possible when designed to be seamless. The project was led by Project Manager Carl Russell and Superintendent John Kantenwein. Originally constructed in 1895, the three-story structure has stayed true to the Romanesque and Picturesque architectural styles. The use of different colored building materials to highlight various architectural elements and portions of the building is typical of the Victorian era and is fully incorporated in the building. It comes as no surprise that City Hall is one of New Bern’s ‘architectural gems.’ The new addition allowed for only a 3-foot clearance from the new structure to the historic wrought iron fence, and less than...

The space is now home to the Paramedic, EMT, CNA, Phlebotomy, and Medical Laboratory Technology programs. “It was the vision of Moseley Architects and the talent of Daniels & Daniels Construction Company, and some elbow grease from our own folks, that have transformed these spaces. We started this renovation one year ago and completed it in November of 2022, and I am pleased to say we stayed on budget and ahead of schedule.” Dr. Patty Pfeiffer, President, Wayne Community College. Construction on the Fremont Elementary School project is in full swing! New masonry and light gauge framed walls are being erected every day, and the light gauge roof trusses, steel bar joists, and roof decking are being installed right behind them. While the walls are being erected there are plumbing, electric, and mechanical crews working tirelessly to install their wall rough ins and openings. Everyone is working in sync to ensure that the “bones” of the building are installed in a timely manner. In the coming weeks all remaining load bearing walls will be constructed and the exterior sheathing, building wrap, insulation and brick veneer will begin being installed. The roof decking will be installed on the trusses and bar joists and the roofers will begin installing insulation and underlayment material to “dry-in” the building....
