The new 30,000 square-foot building will bring all of the college’s automotive and collision repair classrooms, bays, work rooms, and offices under one roof. [vc_row css_animation="" row_type="row" use_row_as_full_screen_section="no" type="full_width" angled_section="no" text_align="left" background_image_as_pattern="without_pattern"][vc_column][vc_column_text]A few members for the D&D field crew partnered with our local YMCA to construct a Nine Square in the Air game at their children's facility this summer.  This game is similar to the classic "Four Square", but it played by tossing a ball in the air, rather than bouncing it on the ground.  The addition provides another activity for the kids to enjoy outdoors.   The students AND the staff are enjoying the new game! [vc_row css_animation="" row_type="row" use_row_as_full_screen_section="no" type="full_width" angled_section="no" text_align="left" background_image_as_pattern="without_pattern"][vc_column][vc_column_text]The employees at Daniels & Daniels are always eager to share our passion for construction with the next generation of leaders.  April 9th - 13th was Construction Careers Awareness Week and this year, D&D celebrated with events all month long and into May.  Our office staff engaged with students by explaining exactly what must happen before construction actually starts.  We also participated in three site visits in Goldsboro, Mount Olive and Winterville.  Our superintendents showed students an active construction site and exposed them to the variety of trades involved in completing a project and the many career opportunities available.  We were able to interact with students from Wayne, Johnston and Pitt Counties and hope to have sparked an interest for them in this rewarding and exciting industry. D&D held two groundbreaking ceremonies this December for recently awarded projects.  The Albert Ellis Air Traffic Control Tower broke ground under clouds and rain, which was suitable weather to further explain the need for this tower to increase landings and takeoffs during inclement weather.  This tower will be the 523rd air traffic control tower in North Carolina.  The new National Guard Readiness Center facility at the Wilmington International Airport has been in the works for over seven years.  The current 50 year old armory will be demolished and replaced with a new 50,150 sf facility.  Soldiers working in this facility will be better equipped to meet the demands of the country and the local community. D&D participated in the first annual Wayne County Touch a Truck Event at the Wayne County Fairgrounds on August 26th. This event was hosted by The Partnership for Children of Wayne County and all proceeds from the event went toward helping the children in our community. There were over 80 types of vehicles at the fairgrounds from fire trucks, race cars, helicopters, emergency vehicles, tow trucks and of course the D&D dump truck and mini tractor. Over 1,500 people came through the gates for this event and the first 150 kids were lucky enough to get their very own D&D hardhat. [gallery columns="2" size="full" ids="3498,3499,3501"]...
