This year, Mike Bryan, our Safety & Health Director, brought in our OSHA representatives to do a OSHA 1926 navigation course. The OSHA 1926 is basically the commercial construction safety Bible and our guys must be familiar with all of its rules and regulations to ensure a safe work environment for ourselves and our partners. SafeWaze also came to demonstrate the proper use of fall protection and to personally fit each of our employees with their fall restraint equipment. In addition to safety updates, our General Superintendent, Darren Powell, rolled out a brand new Quality Control Program that will better enable us to ensure the most optimal quality on all our projects. No company gathering is complete without a Bill Royall meal, so we all thoroughly enjoyed the chili (not to mention Robin's strawberry shortcake and banana pudding)!![/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner row_type="row" type="full_width" text_align="left" css_animation=""][vc_column_inner][vc_separator type="normal"][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width="2/3"][vc_gallery type="nivo" interval="3" images="7699,7700,7701,7702" img_size="full"][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/3"][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]...

Joseph Beaman has been a superintendent with our company for 23 years. He was a part of our company back when it was just starting out, and has successfully completed many projects across the state. He has been key to our growth over the years and has mentored many of our younger employees, including our Vice President of Business Development, Jeremiah Daniels. This October, Joseph retired to his family, his farm and his part time job with the Sheriff's Department. While we are going to miss him, we wish him all the best in retirement![/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner row_type="row" type="full_width" text_align="left" css_animation=""][vc_column_inner][vc_separator type="normal"][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width="2/3"][vc_gallery type="nivo" interval="3" images="7692,7693,7694,7695" img_size="full"][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width="1/3"][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]...

It was truly a pleasure working with WCC and the NC State Construction Office on their first Design-Build project together. This 34,000 square foot building now houses all ACR program students under one roof, allowing for substantial growth in enrollment. Previously, these students were spread out between four other buildings on campus. The new state-of-the-art facility was designed with classrooms, bays, work rooms, offices, meeting and collaboration spaces, and a large lobby with a showroom feel - all meeting the standards expected by accrediting partner automotive manufacturers. The project was completed on-time and ready for the new students this fall. Due to COVID restrictions, the ribbon cutting ceremony looked different than usual, but was a wonderful celebration of an excellent addition to this community gem! D&D was fortunate to have six wonderful interns this summer working on projects all over the state. Our program divides the summer up by providing field experience on three separate projects, along with a rotation working in the office. We believe this gives the students a broad range of knowledge to take back with them to school. The first of many concrete trucks arrived around 1:30 to begin the 10+ hour activity. Brickworks, Inc. has been an excellent partner for Daniels & Daniels and their crews worked tirelessly and efficiently through the morning to completion. All those who donated received a Habitat swag bag and entry into the fastest hammer challenge. Whoever nailed down 5 nails the fastest won the ultimate prize pack! Daniels & Daniels held the record until the very last day! Saltwater fishing is extremely popular in eastern NC and there's no exceptions with our employees. This year, we sent out three boats full of D&D fishermen and women to battle it out for bragging rights on the biggest fish landed! We had some good entries, but Justin was able to hook a white marlin just a few minutes into the trip to secure victory. Luckily, they also caught some delicious mahi that we are saving for a fish fry at our next superintendents meeting. Josh Parker wins the award for best photographer!
